CRICUT TOOLS AND ACCESSORIES NEEDED TO USE A CRICUT

If you have been following me lately, you may have seen all my fun posts about the Cricut Machine and all the fun things you can do with it! I wanted to answer some questions and  share some of the tools and accessories that I love to use with the Cricut machine and how much they cost. I will link up to all these items below! After you have purchased your Cricut Machine you will need some supplies. The Cricut Explore Air 2 machine that I have includes the following:
Cricut Explore Air™ 2 machine
• Built-in wireless Bluetooth®
• Cricut Design Space™ software & app
• German carbide premium blade
• USB cord and power cord
• Accessory Adapter
• 100+ free images
• 50+ free project ideas
• Getting started guide
• Pen & cardstock sample
• Cricut® 12 in. x 12 in. StandardGrip cutting mat

This will be all the supplies to help you get started. You will however, want to purchase some additional accessories. The Essential tool set is a necessity! It will help you so much. It makes removing little cut outs, cutting , slicing, picking up little items, ect…. so much easier. I absolutely love it and use at least 1 tool in every project! They also come in fun colors to match your machine too!

The next item I would suggest adding is extra mats!! Your machine will come with 1 standard grip mat but you will want to have more then one and in the different strengths. The mats come in Light, Standard, and strong. YOu will also want some pens!! This feature is so much fun. You can write on your cards, notes, place settings, party favors ect.. its so much fun to add some extra details and the pensare offered in a variety of colors. I would suggest getting the new Ultimate Fine Point Set. It comes with 30 different pens in all sorts of colors! You will also want supplies to work with such as cardstock, vinyl, iron-on, leather, and craft foam. Cricut even offers a washi sheet! How fun it that? They have so many products that you can use depending on the projects that your working on. Check out the links below to see how much these extra accessories will cost. TRANSFORM OLD FURNITURE INTO SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL WITH WAGNER’S PAINT SPRAYERS

TRANSFORM OLD FURNITURE INTO SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL WITH WAGNER’S PAINT SPRAYERS

*This is a sponsored post.

For years I have wanted to get a paint sprayer but I have been to afraid! It seemed so intimidating and I had heard that clean up was a pain and that they wasted so much paint!!! Well… I am exploding with excitement over the Wagner Paint Sprayer!!!

Wow is all I can say!! I was blown away at how easy it was to use and how affordable it was!! The sprayer and paint container are all plastic and so easy to clean up. I had this old dresser that my parents had gave me. I wanted to give it a makeover and use it in my hallway as an overflow for my tiny linen closet. I love to use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and decided to give it a try in the sprayer. I love that there is no sanding or priming involved with this type of paint and I love the look when it’s done. I had done some research online about using chalk paint in sprayers and the Wagner sprayer said on the box that Chalk paint may require thinning. I decided to try it out and see if it worked and then I would add some water and thin if necessary. To my surprise with all my testing it was working beautifully with NO THINNING NEEDED!!!!!

I already had my Cricut machine, which I needed to cut the leather. Do you have a Cricut machine yet? if not, you may be wondering, How does the Cricut machine work? The Cricut is a machine that is linked to a program on the computer called Cricut Design Space. In the program you can create your projects in layers and specify colors and size. You send the images to the Cricut. Insert the mat with the correct paper, vinyl, faux leather, iron on material, ect..and the machine does the rest!! PERSONALIZE YOUR SPACE WITH THE CRICUT

PERSONALIZE YOUR SPACE WITH THE CRICUT

I just finished doing a room makeover for my boys. I wanted to personalize the space and add some fun touches to the beds. I created these darling pillows using the Cricut Explore Air 2.  The Cricut Design Space is very user friendly! You will be able to do this project in no time!! All the images and fonts that I used were all provided in Design Space. The software is easy to use. I figured it out very quickly and was able to start making custom projects immediately. The dial on the new machine takes all the guess work out of having to choose the pressure and speed for your materials too, so that is such a helpful feature!!!

Little boys bedroom make over featuring Beddys bedding find out more at sugarcoatedhousewife.com

In Cricut Design Space, search headphones. Choose the image below and then add text. Type out ROCK and ON. I used the Don Juan-Marquee font.

Adjust to the size that you want by clicking on the image and dragging the corner arrow. Click go. Make sure you click the box for mirror image for iron-on. Turn the dial on the machine to Iron-on. I love that they have taken all the guess work out with this amazing material dial!! Load mat with the iron on material face down. Follow the instructions for changing out colors. Remove negative material and using a cloth on top of the clear plastic, iron onto your pillow case. I found these pillow covers at IKEA for only $4.00!!! They are nice canvas material and have a zipper, so makes for a really quick project when you dont have to make the pillow covers.Little boys bedroom make over featuring Beddys bedding find out more at sugarcoatedhousewife.com

For this pillow, search Guitars and you will find this image that includes 2 guitars. Add the image to the page .Select layers on the top right and then ungroup the image at the bottom right. Then you can delete the purple one.

Resize the other guitar to the size you want and repeat the instructions to cut and apply to your pillow.

I also personalized the bins in their closet so they would be able to know where all their clothes needed to go!

Now before you start this project I need to let you in on a little tip!!! TURN THE HEAT DOWN!!!! Your heat should be turned down to the wool/silk setting. I was unaware that the material that covered these bins would melt!!! but if you turn it down lower you wont melt them. It will take longer to adhere and sometimes the edges weren’t quite all the way down but after I got the plastic off the top i put the cloth back over the image and gave it a little more time. Also, don’t hold it in one place for to long.

So after the mishap, I got it figured out and got the cute bins all put together. Here are the 4 designs that I did.

All images can be found in Cricut Design Space. Adjust size and colors that you want.  Follow instructions to change mats for color changes. Repeat the application just like the pillows but, on a LOW SETTING!!!! For real don’t make the same mistake I did!! This has worked out so great to help the kids be able to help out and put their own laundry away!!

If you don’t have a Cricut Explore Air 2 yet you can get yours HERE. It is so fun to be able to create and personalize anything you want and the Cricut makes it easy!!

Love how the Finished product turned out!! The boys love being able to help out too!

Cookie monster,Milk and cookie bar was so much fun to create using my Cricut Explore Air 2!! get all the details, tutorials, and recipes at sugarcoatedhousewife.com

This birthday party for my baby boy, was so much fun to put together!! Using my Cricut Eplore Air 2 Machine, I was able to make custom decorations!! I went with a milk and cookies menu to go with our Cookie Monster theme. I will be sharing all the details, tips and tricks I found while putting this party together. I have included all my favorite cookie recipes, the fudge, and the Cookie Monster ice cream that I used for the party too!! Lets start with the invites!!

Materials needed:

Cricut Explore Air 2

-Printer

-Black cardstock

-Blue cardstock

-White cardstock

-Brown cardstock

-Zots, Glue stick, Foam squares.

Cookie monster,Milk and cookie bar was so much fun to create using my Cricut Explore Air 2!! get all the details, tutorials, and recipes at sugarcoatedhousewife.comSo much noise and so much fun, our little monster is turning 1!! loved this cute little saying!! To start, open your Cricut Design Space. Search for card, and you can scroll down and find this flat card like this one. Adjust to the size you want you invite. duplicate this image 2 times and change the colors to black and blue. Click on insert image, and search for Cookie Monster. Find this image of just the head and the cookie and insert into canvas. Insert Text, each section was a separate set of words so i could adjust the size to what i needed. Adjust the Cookie Monster and cookie to the size you want. select all of your text and click the attach button on your top right menu box. You will need to do this so that your Cricut will know which card the text it attached to so that it can cut out around it!! You will be doing a print then cut for this part. You will send this part through the printer then place that sheet on the mat to cutout the card. The printer will print lines to help the cricut know the placement. Design space will tell you when to do everything. now we are ready so click the GO button.

You will be prompted to send the first sheet through the printer. Select your printer and click print. You will get an image that looks like this

Place the sheet that you printed on the cutting mat, like pictured. In design space and you will now be prompted to cut out the card. Follow the rest of the promptings by color and cut out all your pieces.

Now to put it all together i used these other gluing items i glued the cookie together. Use the zots to layer the cards and the cookie monster then  use the foam squares to give dimension to the cookie monster and cookie. Look how cute!! I love them!!

Lets make a happy birthday banner!

Materials needed:

Cricut Explore Air 2

11-12×12 Black cardstock papers

4- 12×12 Blue cardstock papers

4-12×12 White cardstock papers

7 -12×12 Brown cardstock papers

Zots

Black string

Hole punch

Open Design Space and search for Cookie Monster and for a cookie. Insert those images and adjust to the size you would like to make. Duplicate the Cookie Monster 4 times and the cookie 13 times. Click GO and follow the prompts to change colors and cut all the images out. Use the Zots to attach the layers together.

Create the Happy Birthday letters in your design space. Adjust them to the size to fit onto your cookies. I used the ZOO DAY font.

Use the Zots to also attach those letters to the cookies. Take the hole punch and punch a hole on both sides of the cookie monsters and the cookies. Weave the string through, going behind the cookies, making sure you leave enough room on the outside to attach it to where ever you will be hanging it.Cookie monster,Milk and cookie bar was so much fun to create using my Cricut Explore Air 2!! get all the details, tutorials, and recipes at sugarcoatedhousewife.com

I made the food labels using the pens to write the words and then cut out the circles. Choose insert shape from the left hand side of
Design Space. I used a circle. Add text and adjust the size and font to what you like. I used Rob & Bob- Seaside from the Circut Fonts. Once you have the letters on the circle, choose which pen you would like to use by clicking on that layer at the right and the window will pop up, choose WRITE and select which pen you are going to want to use. Now you will need to select both the font and the circle and attach them together by clicking attach at the top right on Design Space. Create all your labels and click GO.

Follow the prompts and insert the pen into the Cricut and click GO. The machine will then write and cut out all your labels!! Its so amazing! You can have these cute labels that look handwritten.

One of my favorite parts of this party was the milk bottles!! I made some custom vinyl lettering to add to all the bottles!! I used Cricut’s blue Glitter Vinyl. In Design Space, add text duplicate it for as many bottles that you have. I also made some larger labels to add to my larger milk bottles.

Materials needed-

Cricut, Blue Glitter Vinyl

Transfer tape

Dont worry about laying them all out the program will do that on the next page! Click GO

Load mat with vinyl on it and click GO. Remove the negative  material and then put the transfer tape over all the words. Use your Cricut tool to press and rub the transfer tape over the letters. Cut out each word. Remove vinyl backing and place on the bottle. Rub onto the bottle and remove the transfer tape.Cookie monster,Milk and cookie bar was so much fun to create using my Cricut Explore Air 2!! get all the details, tutorials, and recipes at sugarcoatedhousewife.com

Repeat for the large bottles too. I found all these milk bottles and the larger bottles at Target in the dollar aisle. I seriously love that aisle for party stuff!!

Cookie monster,Milk and cookie bar was so much fun to create using my Cricut Explore Air 2!! get all the details, tutorials, and recipes at sugarcoatedhousewife.com

I also made some little cookies to go on the straws in the milk jars. All i did was choose the cookie in Deisgn Space that i have been using for the party, flatten the image so you can print them in your printer and duplicate them for as many as you need. click Go

Follow the prompts to print from your printer then add to your mat and click GO and your Cricut will cut them out. Use a hole punch and punch a hole in the middle and slide onto the straw!!

I wanted to decorate the babies chair for him to eat his cake. I cut out a large Cookie Monster eating a cookie. You can find it if you search Cookie Monster in Design Space. I adjusted it to be as large as it would go for a 12×12 sheet.

Make sure you use a mat that is good and sticky cause this image is pretty intricate and wont work if the paper isn’t sticking really well. Follow the prompts and then use zots and a glue stick to attach all the pieces together. I also added these cute tissue paper tassles that i got at Michaels.
